Oh! Before I go on, let me just promote myself...
Name : Chau Siang, Ng (Erwin)
Age : 20
Course : Commerce 2nd year (majoring Accounting)
What am I doing here? I am gonna be the treasurer for M.o.M.U. and am gonna try help M.o.M.U. grow into a successful society where Malaysians can enjoy each others company (especially in the nights when you feel like mamak-ing but can't cause there are none around so you end up in someone's place cooking indomie and then chatting over the oh-so-delicious indomie you guys cooked with all your sweat and blood).
Alright! Enough bout me.. On to what I wanted to write about.. THE COMMONWEALTH GAMES!
Yes, recently Melbourne held the Commonwealth Games and we(Students in Australia, namely those in Melbourne) are privileged to experience first hand the Opening ceremony, tournaments and very soon tonight the Closing ceremony. It was just unfortunate that we did not get a break over the Commonwealth Games LOL!
Anyway, I would very much like to congratulate our Malaysian athletes who trained so hard to enter the Commonwealth Games and played their best.
!! C-O-N-G-R-A-T-U-L-A-T-I-O-N-S !!
Have you seen the Commonwealth Games medal? It's pretty isn't it? Well, if you have not seen it, feast your eyes on it!!
This by the way is one of the Malaysian lawnbowlers' gold medal! Yes, Mel's brother, Mel and I were lucky enough to have got pictures with them as they were sipping chocolate outside Max Brenners in QV. Amazing isn't it?
I'm just so proud to be a Malaysian.
Being Malaysian is not just about being born in Malaysia. It is also the joy you feel when Malaysia built at one point in time the tallest building in the world, has the world's biggest(though probably smelliest) flower in the world and the many more achievements Malaysia has attained over the years. It is about the times you think about how different Australia(or any other country in the world) is from Malaysia - and then miss those differences.
Which is why in every part of the world, where there is a university, there should be a Malaysian Society - M.o.M.U. representing Malayians of Melbourne University. It is so that we can meet up and miss those differences together. So, do not be afraid to ask us anything and do join our club when we become official. Hope to see you guys soon(Don't forget Night Market!! We'll be getting ourselves a stall!!)
"Hey guys! Can't seem to get this up on the chat box.. so here it is..
