Phillip Island!!

Sunday, April 22, 2007

First off I wanna thank everyone went to Phillip Island along with MoMU! It was great fun! So much so that I wanna go back there again!!

Also, I apologise for the late post. I had my busiest week last week. Almost died of exhaustion. Still recovering from it :p

Anyway, back to Phillip Island..

Welcome to Phillip Island!
Phillip Island Tour

I'm not really sure what made the trip so enjoyable for me. But I had tons of fun. Maybe its because I thought the trip was very fulfilling - we saw such wonderful sceneries, we saw many furry animals, we saw many many penguins and I met many many people! Yes, that should be about right. Everything was awesome.

They say pictures say a thousand words.. So, go on over to Phillip Island Trip 2007 and have a look at what we saw that day.

I feel oh so peaceful :pScenery

Oh but you cannot see the penguins because pictures of the penguins were not allowed to be taken. So next time do join our trips to see for yourself what the fuss is all about!!

I shrank the size of the pictures so that it would be faster to upload.. So if anyone wants the original size, let me know and I'll email you the pictures ^.^

Randomness

Yo people!

Easter break is almost overrrrr... nooooooooo! I haven't finished my assignment or studied for my midsem! ><

Looks like Mel beat me to update you all about our recent World Cup elimination haha. Well the man AUGUST scored to salvage whatever pride we had left haha. At least there was no repeat of the Greek Tragedy of 2006. Honest opinion is that the scoreline was harsh lah (4-1) and the game was more even than you would think. I sound like a sore loser. I will stop. All the best to Team China for their next match =) Remember Night Market a while back? When you were walking around (hopefully not under the rain), did you ever wonder why some stalls (like ours) went all out to pimp their stalls?

Obviously there was a Stall Decoration Competition lah! Big cash prize up for grabs! However, thanks to the rain and strong winds we had to take down our wau, lanterns and starry lights =(

See the difference? Lost our ummmmmph~! Anyways, sadly we came in second. (no prize... damn!) No idea when the judging took place or the scoring criteria... but confirm we won't lose to anyone from lack of effort. Heck we even made Mel and Michelle dress up in a cheongsam and a kebaya!

Hmmm Erwin just updated me about the Phillip Island Trip, sorry these details came a bit late! Not our fault ya, the bus company lambat reply:

Depart at : 1.30 pm (Be there by 1.10pm ok? The bus waits for NO ONE... so do NOT be late!)

Place : Grattan Street, Gate 10, in front of University Square
(Melway map reference : page 2B grid C8 http://www.street-directory.com.au/sd_new/mapsearch.cgi )

Arrive at : 10.30pm to 11.30pm (depending on the time the little penguins come out to play)

Place : -same as above-

For those who have not paid, please bring $70 (members), $80 (non-members) as we will be collecting the money before you board the bus.

Ok thats it from me. Don't forget to buy Karaoke tickets on Monday! Cyas

3-1? 4-1?

Thursday, April 12, 2007

For those of you who didn't know, the ever-sporting men of the MoMU committee took part in an intercultural soccer match just before Easter. The draw?

Malaysia vs. China

Dum Dum DUMMMMMMMMMMM!!!

Naturally, no expense was spared in preparing our stalwart athletes for this impending battle. Although sporting giants like Nike, Adidas, Puma and such were falling over themselves to endorse our players, we patriotically declined, choosing instead our all-Malaysian Bata and Power footwear for the big day. Hours and hours were spent in rigorous training with our resident Spartan (rawr!), moi of course, grilling the men in an effort to whip them into 6-pack shape.

(True Spartans like me have about 10 packs, but I decided to go easy on these nasi-lemak-eating softies)

Come match day, our athletes were fit and raring to go. The cold winds and exceedingly tall opponents did nothing to dampen their spirits. They were all focused on one goal. The goal that eluded them last year when they went up against the Greeks. The goal that would save them from another year of paiseh-ness and mockery. The goal that would enable them to show their faces in Malaysia once again. Yes, just one goal was all they asked...

We're the men in white!

And indeed, one goal they scored!!

(This isn't a video of the goal, btw. You think my camera so chun meh? Besides, this was second half already and everyone ran away when they saw the camera. This is merely a video of August *confirming* that the goal was scored. Because it was too fast! The minute he switched out from goalie to striker, he scored! Can meh??!?)

Congratulations MoMU footballers! You didn't win, but at least you scored ONE goal! Er, I can't remember if China scored 3 or 4 (probably gave up counting) but anyway twas a good game and good fun to watch :D Next years, two goals!

Happy Feet.. I mean.. Phillip Island Tour!

Monday, April 02, 2007

Who's interested to go watch Happy Feet? Well, not the cartoon. The real thing! MoMU is having a day trip to Penguin Land aka Phillip Island!

cute penguinWon't you come see me?

Date: 14th April 2007
Price: $70 for members, $80 for non-members

But that's not it! We're not just gonna see penguins.

cute penguinYou mean you're gonna see other cute animals?
:(

Yes there is more than just penguins. It is a day trip and we shall be passing by all of the below! Mind you, all entrance fees are paid for :)

The Bays
Our tours will drive along the bays of Port Philip which will see the breathtaking views of the coastline. We will then cross over from Mornington Peninsular, passing by Waternport Bay to Philip Island.
Camera time!
Bring on that kawaii pose!

San Remo
We will be stopping by this fishing village which is the gateway to Philip Island. San Remo is also home to some of the unique wildlife. Here we will see Australian natives animals such as Koalas, kangaroos and many others.

koalaI say you come see me! Not the penguin!

Philip Island
You will then be guided around this unique small island which is only 100 square meters which is home to some interesting creatures such as penguins and seals. We will be checking out the town of Cowes as well along the way.

Penguine Parade
The phenomenon of the world happens here where you will witness one of the world's smallest penguins species come ashore. These little creature comes back in the evening at the break of the day after a long day of hunting offshore for about 100 km away. Watch as they come onshore, cross the beach and go back to their individual barrows. It is not just that easy as it says because they will have to find their way through the mischievous sea gulls which will position themselves on shore to just give a friendly scare. There is also a 'Penguine world' at the visitor centre where you can learn the interesting life of the little penguins.

kangarooCome see us!
Why do penguins get all the fun?

So, if you are interested, please sign up with us as soon as possible! We have limites spaces and payment duedate will be by the coming Thursday, ie April 5th 2007!!

As usual, we will be setting up a booth at Union House from 12-2pm all week. Or you could e-mail us at momumomu@gmail.com if you think that you cannot make it to the booth.

MoMU at your service :)
