Malaysians of Melbourne University MoMU: May 2007

Join MoMU conquer Falls Creek!!

Monday, May 28, 2007

Just because everyone else is having a ski trip, MoMU has decided to have one too!! We are after all KIASU! No no no... That's not right.. We're not from Singapore (no offense to our Singaporean readers) but really, MoMU had the opportunity to meet with a travel agent and were able to get some pretty good stuff!

Go Lah~!
Go Lah~!

So read the poster yet? Click it and check out the details!! But for those of you lazy bums who thinks that clicking the mouse requires some herculean strength let me list it out for you...

For just $499(members)*

Depart Melbourne at 2am (Friday 3rd August)
Depart Falls Creek at 2pm (Sunday 5th August)

Accommodation at Falls Creek Country Club!!

All Mountain Access Lift!!

Lessons for all levels!!

Deposit to be placed by 14th June and
Full payment by 24 July

*Equipment hire
$60 for ski hire or
$95 for snowboard hire

Ok now my pitch to you why you should join us on our ski trip and not other societies!!

1) Notice the time we depart from Melbourne?? Yes! It is 2am and that would mean reaching Falls Creek at the crack of dawn! So, you would be really spending a whole Friday on the Mountain as opposed to other clubs who leave in the afternoon and reach only in the evening.. But of course that would also mean ponteng class for one day! :p

2) Notice how I highlighted Falls Creek Country Club?? Really that is one of the best accommodation available and after a whole day of skiing you'd want to go back to a comfortable place! Who cares about Halley's Lodge or any other lodge?

3) Notice how big the All Mountain Access Lift is?? And that's because we get the whole mountain!! Most others would only offer one part of the mountain.. but what happens if you're done with one part of the mountain *cries*

So I'd say it is about time you guys consider joining us on our trip :p After all, you know you'd have a great time coming with us!

Even our poster is beckoning you to join us.. Go Lah~! it says..

i was bored and...

Saturday, May 26, 2007

i found pictures!! this pictures are from the night when the prime minister came to melbourne..

so basically we, the committee and some other peeps from other malaysian societies from various other universities in victoria gathered at

park hyatt

where we heard the prime minister giving a speech!

the whole gang who went were

momu gang

and we were expecting to get a picture like this with the prime minister. unfortunately the prime minister had to leave earlier than scheduled so our prime minister is not in the picture with us.

so being all kaypoh (busybody) and bohliao (nothing better to do), we decided to go hope on

chairs

and take many many photos. that was where the prime minister sat! anyway it is too embarassing to put the pictures with us in it so here you see the empty chairs ;p

so after all the photo taking sessions, we left.. with a full stomach (food was served and it was delicious!).. but also with

flags

lots of flags!! so patriotic.. each person got a flag and we gathered quite a number so we can use them for future events..

well, that's it for being bored.. expect more unexpected posts during this exam period.. tis when i am truly have more time to blog.. hopefully lol!

Guess who was in town lately?

Sunday, May 06, 2007

Apologies for not publicising this to all members. Due to venue and time restrictions (we were only fully informed 2 days before!), MoMU could only have 25 representatives... so mostly committee attended the event. Didn't have chance to take photo with him also =(

Btw if you look closely at the photo... you can see MELS FOREHEAD behind Pak Lah!

Follow the siren!!

Situation in Malaysia
*Sirens from 100m away*

Driver looks into back mirror and gives way for the ambulance/fire truck/police (let's call them Siren) to pass. As soon as Siren passes by, driver swoops behind Siren and trails as far as he could.

--The End--

LOL! That's the truth! And it's about time that something is being done about it
--> Siren chasers to be fined on the spot, says traffic chief.

RM300 fine for you suckers!! :p I don't like stupid people who does things like that..

Oh, don't neglect the post below about our FREE screening of Cinta.

FREE Cinta Screening!!!

Friday, May 04, 2007

Hi all,

I know that you're all probably gearing up for the exams coming up. And if you aren't, you rehllay should be!!! *cracks whip* Or I tell your mummy!

Nevertheless, studying aside, tis still always necessary to take time off to unwind a leetle bit - reading too many books just ain't good for the eyes. Sooo... hoh because we care about you sosososo much, and also cos we really love our homegrown movies (Beli Buatan Malaysia wei!!!), we thought we'd hold a screening of Cinta, one of the more popular Malaysian films to grace the silver screen in 2006.

Here's a leetle poster to refresh your memories!

Teehee, remember anot? Twas posted all over KL man as I recall! Sooo...for you unfortunate people who missed it when back home - now's your chance to catch it la. Or, if you already seen it and absolutely lurved it. Come watch it again! Nothing like watching a good movie with good company (and I guarantee you hoh that we at MoMU are very nice, friendly people wan *grins brightly*)

Anyway, on to the details!

Date: 10th May 2007, Thursday
Time: 8.00pm
Venue: Concept Blue (that's at the intersection of Russell St and LaTrobe St - right next to KBox) - go to the La Trobe Street Entrance (somewhere next to KBox) - we'll have one of our MoMU people waiting outside to trot you guys in :)

Oh also, for those of you who haven't heard about Cinta at all - I give you guys brief synopsis la.

CINTA is a film about five modern-day love stories with the metropolitan
skyline of Kuala Lumpur as the backdrop. While each story is independant, the
characters are connected to each other by circumstance, coincidence or location.

With love as its universal theme, CINTA takes us through the lives of
the couples who search, find or lose their love in the beautiful city. Through
these characters we experience the difference facets of love: love between
siblings, a husband and wife and their child, and even the meaning of love for
the older generation.

Of the five stories about love, which one is yours?

So there ya have it a sweet movie to make us all puke up pink fluffy hearts <3 Or a nice feel-good movie to enjoy and relax to just before the exams. However you see it :D It received pretty good reviews all around - so great movie to catch - and for FREE whatsmore. So do come by Thursday night, we'll be providing some snacks, and of course a velli velli nice Malaysian movie for you people to watch so that we can all reminisce about home and sing Rasa Sayang together.

Ohkayla!

That's about it! Hope to see all you people there!!!
