MoMU sincerely apologizes for the incorrect information displayed earlier and have removed it from this post. We would like to thank our reader, ChilliBike who pointed out our mistake. Perhaps it's best to look at wikipedia for some fast facts. Australian Rules Football.

    2 Comments:
  • "just to clarify it is actually Australian Rules Football... In Australia there is two types of "footy". If you are in Victoria it is Aussie Rules, otherwise if "footy" was mentioned in persay NSW or QLD one would be referring to Rugby League/Union. League and Union differ slightly in rules. American Football, or "Gridiron", does NOT necessarily contain more rough play. Please do not miss-educate your audience.

Hope you guys have an enjoyable arvo at the footy... and remember to eat meat pies!"

We've changed the information and apologize for the inaccurate information provided.

Haha, we should all be going for the MUOSS event.

    And meat pies are yummy!"

MASCA Intervarsity Games

Monday, April 14, 2008

First up, what is MASCA?
MASCA stands for Malaysian Students' Council of Australia and they are generally the umbrella body for all Malaysian students organizations in Australia. MASCA National has a division of itself in each state to ensure that the welfare of each organization is taken care of. MoMU, based in Melbourne would naturally be under MASCA Victoria.

What about NCG?
The National Conference and Games (NCG) is an annual event held by MASCA National and is hosted in a different state every year. All the MASCA States would be participating, and in affiliations with the Malaysian Student Department of Australia (MSDA), they aim to gather all Malaysian students around Australia to have fun in a friendly and healthy environment.

Alright, now down to the gritty details!
MASCA Victoria are looking for participants to win in the NCG! But first you've gotta win the games in Victoria first before they send you to Queensland! (Very much like a qualifying round)

The winning team from each sport will represent Victoria in QUEENSLAND at the NCG from 1st - 4th July.

When: 26th and 27th April

Interested to participate?
Email MoMU and sign up as a TEAM or INDIVIDUAL.

Positions closed!

Sunday, April 13, 2008

Hey all!

Wow, before the blog can even update about the positions available (Publicity and IT Officers), the response received by the club's email was tremendous!

Sad to say, the dateline for applications had to be closed early. We appreciate all of you who have expressed your interests and supported us all the way. Look out for our replies to arrange a casual meeting with us.

If you've missed out, you can always volunteer for MASCA's Intervarsity games by emailing us (momumomu@gmail.com) or come to our AGM which will be held later in August. MoMU's an awesome place to develop the essential skills needed for the workforce and to forge friendships.

You won't regret it!

It's a Starry Night Market

Tuesday, April 08, 2008

Hey guys, we are sure that the upcoming Night Market hosted by the Melbourne University Overseas's Student Society (MUOSS) have stirred up quite a buzz among us students for the past few weeks.

If you have been kept in the dark or as the Malay proverb goes "katak di bawah tempurung", Night Market is very much like "Pasar Malam" in Malaysia. Themed with MUOSS "We are Different but the Same" exhibition, students from all over the world are invited to come share their cultural experience with the rest of us. Heaps of delicious foods, each representing a taste of a different cultural background would be there along with performances and even arts and crafts for sale. It is one of Melbourne Uni's highlights of the year, always enjoyed by everyone! So come along and join us in this year's Night Market!

When : 11th April 2008 (Friday)
Time : 6pm - 10pm
Venue : Concrete Lawns, Melbourne University

MoMU's stall at Night Market 2007.

Of course, while you're visiting, don't forget to drop by our stall!
MoMU's gone mamak style with our menu of Roti Canai, Rojak and Teh Tarik!

Come one, come all, buy one, buy all!!!

And if you come really early, the first 50 members who shows their membership cards gets Teh Tarik for free!

Wheee.....
