Ready for exams? + Updates on Malam Gemilang

Saturday, November 01, 2008

Is everybody busy with studying? Or did you all procrastinate and went partying for Halloween last night?

All I can say is (Or should I say MoMU wishes), Good luck to everyone for their exams! Just a short while more till we have our extremely long 3 months break! =)

Oh and here's the update on Malam Gemilang.

"MASCA's annual dinner, Malam Gemilang was slightly different this year. This year, the event was jointly hosted by MASCA (Malaysian Students Council of Australia) and KUAM (Kelab UMNO Australia Melbourne). The aim of the dinner was to encourage unity amongst Malaysians in Victoria, wit the theme 'One Love, One Malaysia'.

The dinner was very much a smashing success. Held at the beautiful hall of Lincoln of Toorak on the 12th of October, one of the main highlights of the dinner was the attendance of our beloved ex-Perdana Menteri, Tun Dr Mahathir, accompanied by his lovely wife Tun Siti Hasmah and daughter Marina Mahathir. Tun delivered an intently-listened to speech, encouraging all international students studying in Melbourne to make the most of their opportunity to study abroad, and at the end of the night consented to have his picture taken with the dinner's attendees.

Other than this, there were many well choreographed performances, delicious food, and for the first time, prizes were handed in appreciation of the Malaysian Clubs in Melbourne. And, guess who won Best Malaysian Club? None other than MoMU! Congrats to all our committee members who made this happen, and to all our members, since none of this would be possible without your participation and loyalty to the club!

Our beloved ex-President Su Ann Ong that made this a reality

The night was an enjoyable one. It was a great mix between formality and good old Malaysian fun. What's more, the dress code for the night was traditional wear, and so Malam Gemilang really achieved it's goal of showing the unity that stays strong even with the diversity in cultures that our home has. Here's to the next dinner next year. Who know's what will be in store then?"

Oh and here's the video they made for the event. Based on the song by various artists called "Here in my Home"
